VISTAR (Visual Inspection System Through AI for Rails) at SAIL Bhilai marks a major milestone in AI-powered Quality Assurance. By installing 6 industrial-grade cameras capturing 7,800 high-resolution images per 130-meter rail and leveraging AI analysis, the system assists inspectors in identifying surface defects and dimensional variations more efficiently.
The Data-Driven Quality Assurance system, enhanced by AI-driven inspections, can be applied not only to rails but also to other safety-critical components such as wheels, axles, and similar products in railways and other sectors.
> Our partnership with the Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) and iHub, a joint venture of IIT-Roorkee and the Ministry of Science and Technology, has been pivotal in making this VISTAR Project a reality.
